For a man who appears very little in either the books or the movies, and never even gets a first name, Major Lord Edrington makes quite a few crossover appearances. This time he and Richard Sharpe end up cut off from their retreating army and have to rely on each other to survive. I especially enjoyed Sharpe’s first impression of Edrington - he certainly seems to rub people the wrong way.

Quite a good story, well-written and well-researched.
