Rodney finds out that John likes to dress in women’s clothes. This could have been played for humour, but Toft takes it much further than that, and turns the concept into an excellent story. One of my favourites in the fandom so far. And I don’t even like crossdressing stories (or at least, I didn’t think I did!)

And it’s Archie/Saul, whereas Parhelion always writes Nero/Archie, and it’s the first new Nero Wolfe fic she’s written in a long time, so…enjoy.

Because they shoved their gay characters into symbolic closets, the audience’s ability to look for and read that symbolism grew, thus creating subtext where it wasn’t always wanted. This, then, gave rise to need for more symbolism, to show where the homosexuality began and ended.
