A story where Julie is more than just an annoying impediment to House and Wilson’s love.
The hell of it is, House actually likes Julie, at least as much as he likes anybody, which is to say that he finds her tolerable. She isn’t completely stupid, and she isn’t too dramatic, and she’s even decent enough company, once she’s no longer his physical therapist and he doesn’t feel compelled to actively hate her anymore. She isn’t terribly interesting, but she has pretty good taste in music.
He likes Wilson, too, which is an understatement of the absolutely obvious, and he prefers not to think too much about that.
If Severus can’t convince Draco not to join the Death Eaters, who can?

“I’m with Cordy,” said Gunn, the traitor. “Fair fight, Top Cat would beat any of your guys. Got the street smarts, got a tight crew…”
“Yes, it’s a shame so many of them are probably suffering from mange.”
“Hey, I seen every episode ever of that show. They never lost to that Dibble guy.”
“And as we know,” Wesley said solemnly, “Officer Dibble is the cartoon personification of The Man.”
Gunn grinned. “We talked about this before?”
“Not nearly as much as we have socio-political commentary in The Flintstones, but you’ve mentioned it once or twice.”
I laughed my ass off at this story, although it might not have been quite so funny if I hadn’t been so tired at 2 a.m. this morning.
This is one of those stories that I’m tempted to mark PWP even though it contains little actual sex; it’s pure romantic gratification with a side of humour.
This is set in the aftermath of Stephen’s escape from prison and torture in H.M.S. Surprise; those who know the books will recognize at once where I have fudged, and those who know only the movie will be completely lost, so I think I may have managed to confuse everyone. Huzzah! My apologies to Mrs Beeton and the Bard.
Actually, I didn’t find the story at all confusing, although I’m one of those who hasn’t read beyond Master and Commander, mostly because I can’t find Post Captain in any of the 8 used bookstores I visit on a regular basis, and I owe the public library $70.
I discovered House fic this week. Because I really needed another fandom. Aside from the few I’ve already recommended in the past few days, I have a whole list of others waiting to be added; unfortunately, I can’t connect to www.squidge.org, where the House fanfiction archive resides. I’m assuming (hoping!) that their bandwidth has just been used up for the month and that the archive will be available again tomorrow. Please, let it be up and running tomorrow…

“All right, I’m leaving.” I drained the teacup and set it down. “I’ll take my sunny presence elsewhere until you’re feeling sociable.”
“I very much doubt you’ll wait as long as that, Black.” Snape said it in an undertone, but I was clearly meant to hear.
“Oh, I don’t know, I think Hell might be freezing over,” I said, on my way out the door. After all, I had just had a nearly civil conversation with Snape.
