The new site is done! So here we are, with the fourth version of this site since I started it in February.
So, now that all the old recs have been added and the site has been moved to it’s permanent address here, I can start to add recs again. There are a few things I’ve read over the last few weeks that have been waiting to be rec’d. Unfortunately, I have a lot of schoolwork to do this summer, and there are a lot of actual books I want to read, so, somewhat ironically, I won’t have as much time to read fanfic as I do during the regular school year.

The Business by Basingstoke
The Authority
Three hundred and seventy-two scenarios involving the mop led to Becky’s death. Forty-eight of them were purely accidental.
I haven’t got a clue what The Authority is, but with a beginning like that, how I could I resist?
PG // Romance
Shutting Doors by James Walkwithwind
And its sequels, Shutting Doors II, Shutting Doors II: Gratuitous Sex Scene, Shutting Doors III, and Silent Passage.
Much less dark than most Batman stories. Charts the development of Robin’s relationship with Batman. I really like the Dick voice. And Davy is a great OC.
Wherever You Stand A Hundred Shall Fall is an AU of the Shutting Doors universe, a crossover with The Sentinel. Also Jim/Blair. Its sequel is Castoff.

Messenger by Gloria Mundi
The Iliad/Greek myth
My other favourite Iliad story, because Gloria Mundi is just so talented.
“I will avenge you, when you’re dead,” he’d said to Achilles once.
“You think even Death can part us?” Achilles had murmured, pretending surprise. “Surely I will find my way back to your arms.”
“And leave me waiting for you?” Patroclus had said, laughing. “No! I’ll come to Hades, and bring you out with me.” He’d sealed the vow with a kiss.
Achilles had kissed him back, and let the kiss seal his lips. That was not the fame he had been promised.
The death of Hector, and Achilles sends a message to Patroclus.

The Iliad/Greek myth
My favourite Iliad story. Gloria Mundi writes with such an amazing and unique voice, perfect for the tone of the Iliad:
Neither of them will ever surrender to anyone else. Once Patroclus — in Achilles’ armour, a perfect fit at last — has fallen to Hector’s hand, Achilles will have to find other ways to love.
Like a girl, like a dog, like a ghost.

dragonflies draw flame by Sarah T.
Johnny, post-X2.
John had felt like he was always saying the wrong thing in the Professor’s classes–things that would make the rest of the class look at him funny and the Professor himself mutter “Hmm” and then hastily change the subject. To think he might be able to get the right answer…that was new.

A Winter’s Tale by Jane Mortimer
Joe and Methos and lost chances.

The Freshest and the Best by Julad
Duncan and Methos. Year: 2018. Location: supermarket. I don’t know about you, but I’ve never read a story by Julad that I didn’t like.
Humour // PG // Romance
Primates by Grit Kitty
AU. Umm…there’s a monkey? Okay, he’s a Barbary ape. And Blair and Jim end up working together. What more do you want?

Deal by Xoverau
It’s rare for him to like someone he doesn’t trust, but Marshall likes Wade.
I love the end of this, with Marshall’s “you’re not the first to think so.”

what it feels like by Cimorene
Finding Nemo
Nemo is finally growing up. Light and sweet, just like the movie. And there’s gay fish sex.
Coming of Age // NC-17 // Romance
Time Out by Ann Somerville
Figging, electrical, wax, suspension and resistance play, bondage and flogging.
A story about a boy and his dom. A young man spends a few days with his lover, recharging his batteries.

A Tale of Cornish Ghosts by Lizzie
Ghosts and gay romance in Victorian Cornwall.
According to the Forbidden Fruit Magazine site, there will be no more instalments in this series, so read at your own risk.
Update: This story has been removed at the request of the author. As far as I know it is no longer available online.
03 Jan 07: This story (as a Professionals fanfic rather than original fiction) is available at The Circuit Archive, as A Birdwatcher’s Guide to Cornish Ghosts. I have no idea how these two versions came to exist, but thanks to Lynda once again for pointing this out to me.

Northern Corporate Dominion by Remy
When humans are seen only in terms of profit and loss, what happens to humanity?
Set in a slave state where corporations rule. Four interconnected stories (the last one by a guest writer); I like Redemption the best.
Take the darkfic warning seriously. This isn’t the kind of story that uses slavery as a plot device; the slave society is real, oppressive, unrelenting and inescapable.
ETA: Northern Corporate Dominion is now available only on livejournal. The first three stories are: Pride, Expulsion, and Redemption.

Jigsaw by Jaxmari
Post-OotP AU. I’m not entirely satisfied with this story, especially the ending. It just seems somehow…unfinished. However, it’s very well-written; I’ve never read a fanfic that was as faithful to JKR’s style as this one. Jaxmari really has a handle on the kind of malicious jokes and pranks that make me so uncomfortable while reading the books. And the self-righteous anger and prejudice of the wizarding world is just as enraging as when JKR writes it.
