After Not Fade Away, Xander is house-sitting in Rome when Spike shows up looking for Buffy. This story is Spike/Xander, but mostly it’s about Xander’s eye, and what having lost it means to him.

Beholder by Kimberly

Beginning immediately after John, Aeryn, D’Argo, and Rygel return to Moya after ???????? ????? ????????A Human Reaction, Chiana has some difficulty adjusting to being part of the crew—or even deciding if she wants to stay at all.

I have to say, it’s Chiana’s interactions with everyone on the ship, particularly Aeryn, that make this story so good.

Xander needs a date for a company party. The only one available is…Spike.

“And you care about my professional endeavors?” Xander snapped. “Please. Look, Spike, I don’t know what the scam is, but—”

“No scam.” Spike’s eyes were eerily direct as they bored into Xander’s, his hand again a vise on Xander’s arm. “Bit of free food and tormenting rich old biddies who need some young blood—”

“You’re old enough to be their grandfather! Probably their great-grandfather!”

“—young blood to spice things up. Don’t make this a big deal, Harris, and no, you aren’t getting rid of me so you might as well just deal with it.”

Half-Windsor by Ladycat

A crossover of Nero Wolfe and House may sound strange at first, but it works amazingly well, as this story proves.

Wilson is accused of murder, and House hires New York’s best private detective to find the truth. Hwshipper does a good job of bringing Wolfe and Archie into the 21st century while keeping the fundamentals intact.

“I’ll google Dr. House, shall I?” I asked innocently.

Wolfe glared at me. “Don’t goad me, Archie. You know perfectly well that word is not a verb in this house.”

A Distorted Genius by Hwshipper

Excellent and creepy story about Wesley and Connor. Departs from canon after Tomorrow.

Connor wandered over to the table, curiously sniffed the glass, then raised it to his lips.

“Don’t drink that.”

“Why?”

“It’s bad for you. Like poison.”

Connor gave him a long, slow look. “You drink it. You’re not dead.”

“It takes time.”

Silence for a while, then, “There are faster ways to die.”

Wesley shrugged. “It’s the journey that matters.”

Deliverance by Debchan

This is a great crossover of Dexter and Stargate Atlantis. Creepy and funny in turns, just like the show.

My name is John. John Sheppard. I don’t know what made me the way I am, but whatever it was left a hollow place inside. People fake a lot of human interactions, but I feel like I fake them all. I fake them very well. That’s my burden I guess. I don’t blame my parents for that, Mary and Nathan Sheppard did a wonderful job raising me.

But they’re both dead now. I didn’t kill them.

A straightforward summary won’t do this story justice, but it’s all I have to offer. John and Aeryn are captured and forced to work in a mine. While Aeryn takes care of them both, John has an identity crisis.

I was a little frustrated with the writing style as first, but by the end I knew it was the right way to tell this story.

Macdonald Hall forms a Gay-Straight Alliance.
