Starlight

The Silmarillion
And its sequel, Thrice for Honour.
Starlight is actually gen, though rated R for violence and mature themes; on a winter night, strangers arrive seeking shelter at Maglor’s camp. Thrice for Honour is slash, and contains graphic BDSM sex, as Elrond is initiated into a set of Noldorin sexual rites.

What was Eowyn really feeling while Faramir courted her in the Houses of Healing? Warning: this story is not a romance.
A Bird and a Beast

“How you tease, my fair friend,” Gimli said. He found that something robust had come into his voice.
“Do I tease?” Legolas said.
Gimli said, after a pause, “I cannot answer.”

The Question
Oct 3, 2005
Legolas spoke as if he had nothing at stake in the matter at all. But then, Aragorn had known elves for whom, after so many centuries, that was indeed so. Life became like a wagon of players riding into town — you watched, and in due course it moved on.
Legolas was undoing one of his leather gauntlets; his seated body with its birch-straight back was otherwise quite still. One bright pennant of hair lifted on a gust of breeze.
Kaleidoscope

Everyone has something to say about the love between an Elf and a Dwarf.

Lords of Misrule

Even when an Elf and a Dwarf become friends, misunderstandings are bound to happen now and then.
Also, this is probably the only good story where Legolas says ‘fuck’. You wouldn’t want to miss that.
Promises to Keep

The link is to her main Tolkien fic page, just scroll down. Quite a few of the links have been down for months, so I’ve also linked to them directly below.
At the end of the Second Age, Elrond and Isildur are friends, but that friendship is strained by the politics of tha day. Not to mention the coming war.
The main part of this series is a multi-part WIP called Shieldmates:
- Prologue
- Chapter One: The Gathering
- Chapter Two: Dagorlad
- Chapter Three: Siege Planning
- Chapter Four: At the Morannon
- Chapter Five: Môriul and Dreams
- Chapter Six: Trial of Faith
- Chapter Seven: Alienated Nations
- Chapter Eight: Choice of Targets
- Chapter Nine: Crossing the Line
- Chapter Ten: Neri Alveru
- Chapter Eleven: Drowning on Dry Land
(Chapters nine through eleven don’t seem to have been posted yet, despite being listed on the Shieldmates index page.)
There are also three related stories: Agaranna, A Day by the River, and Dark Surpassing Sun
Untying Knots

Legolas braids Gimli’s hair. I can’t believe I haven’t rec’d this before; I’ve loved it for ages.
Heart and Body
Mar 3, 2005
Haldir is captured by Men. Mostly pre-Lord of the Rings, but a younger Aragorn does appear in the sequel, Love and Duty.
The link is actually to Implacida’s main Tolkien-fic page, because Heart and Body has several parts and is the first in a series. I particularly like the banter with Legolas in Love and Duty. Although the Elvish warriors in that story always remind me of the Theban Sacred Band.
And Figwit (a.k.a. Melpomaen) has a starring role in The Moon and the Night Sky, which could actually stand alone but is far better if you read it as part of the series. (Don’t know who Figwit is? Go here - it’s hilarious!)
Haldir and his brothers have some slightly incesty moments, but they don’t really lead anywhere. Unfortunately?
I, Alone

“To bear a ring of power is to be alone.”
This makes me feel so, so sorry for Celeborn. And Galadriel. And it fits very well into movie canon.
When We Two Parted

The Silmarillion
Finrod bears a message to his brother Aegnor.
Inspired by Athrabeth Finrod Ah Andreth from Morgoth’s Ring, which I haven’t read, but of course that doesn’t matter.
They Say of the Elves
Mar 3, 2005
You know what they say of the Elves, that they’ll tumble you soon as look at you; seducers, coquettes, you’ll wake with only a handful of leaves and a sweet taste in your mouth.
Gimli’s thought are wonderful. And isn’t “coquette” a perfect word for Orlando Bloom’s Legolas?
If I Were Queen of the Forest
Feb 11, 2005
Well, what would you do if you were queen of the forest?
Boromir passed a hand over his forehead. “I mean, of course I’ve been with women. Many women. Just not with a man.”
“Why not?”
“Well, it’s not very manly, is it?”
“On the contrary,” said Aragorn. “Two men, together, is the most manly thing there is.”
“I don’t really–”
“Here,” said Aragorn and laid his hand on Boromir, in a most intimate place. Boromir hated to admit it to himself, but he was suddenly feeling very manly indeed.
This fic makes me giggle every time I read it.
Prism of Light

And its sequel, Time Enough.
Gentle, lyrical and wonderful. In Lothlorien, Legolas goes to Boromir to feel out his mind.
For a long time, I couldn’t remember what “mellon” (friend) meant, which made the end of Time Enough somewhat confusing for me. Stupid, since I’ve read the books numerous times and own all three movies.
The Making of Samwise
Feb 11, 2005
A long, lyrical series. Absolutely wonderful use of dialect. Dialect is horrific when it’s done wrong, but this series gets it very, very right.
What Tolkien Officially Said About Elf Sex
Feb 8, 2005
A humorous and well-written essay. If the title isn’t enough to tempt you, then nothing will convince you to read it.
Ever since the movie of the book Fellowship of the Ring came out, there seem to be two popular ideas about Elves’ sex lives. Either they are radiantly asexual, or they are all screwing each other madly, along with any dwarves, hobbits, and men who happen along. Whichever you prefer is usually based on how attractive you think Orlando Bloom is.

Unspoken
Feb 8, 2005
The Silmarillion
Also various other pairings. There’s no actual incest, but there are incestuous thoughts, and there’s some sex which Tolkien’s elves would have considered to be incestuous.
This story really has too many pairings to list them all; suffice it to say, the male elves get a lot of sex. A lot of sex. This story might be confusing if you don’t have some idea who the characters are; if you haven’t read The Silmarillion you can look up the characters in the Encyclopedia of Arda as you go along. It’s worth it.
In Unspoken, Elrohir lusts after his own father in secret–until Glorfindel finds out. Revelations is an Elrond/Celeborn PWP; Changes features Galadriel’s reaction and introduces Gildor Inglorion. One Last Time tells Gildor and Glorfindel’s pasts in a series of flashbacks. Quid Pro Quo is another PWP. Wild Justice brings the series to a resounding conclusion.
I find the plot of the Unspoken arc unnecessarily complex, but some of the character interactions make up for it. Especially the dynamic between Elrohir and Glorfindel, and later (or earlier, depending on how you look at it) between Ecthelion and Glorfindel. Chapters 22 and 33 in Wild Justice are incredibly good and very funny. I wish I had dreams like Elrohir’s…
