Highlander/Star Trek
It’s 2369 and Richie Ryan has been in Starfleet for a long time. He’s estranged from Duncan and he’s never liked Adam Pierson, but he’s going to have a chance to work on that. Unfortunately, no slash in this story, but it has a tightly woven plot and it stays true to the format of Highlander, complete with flashbacks. Although the story is set in the Star Trek universe, I don’t think it’s necessary to know anything about Star Trek to enjoy the story. Although, how many Highlander fans can there be who haven’t seen at least a couple episodes of Star Trek?
A Dish Served Cold seems to have been written as a prequel to another fic, Finding Oneself, which I have yet to read. The author does an amazing job at creating a self-contained story with a satisfying resolution that nonetheless leaves threads hanging to be resolved in the next story.
Update: If anything, the sequel to A Dish Served Cold is even better. If you’ve finished this story, go read Finding Oneself. Great characters, especially Jono, who I would love to see a story about.
